*rp-pppoe インストール [#o0eddcba]
 ルーター無しで Linux 上でインターネットに接続するには
 PPPoE を設定する必要があります。
 NTT 東日本にの説明よると rp-pppoe と言うソフトウェアを
 インストールする必要がありそうです。
 そのインストールのメモです。
 Turbo Linux Server 7 と RedHat9 で検証しました。

-(1) rp-pppoe の rpm パッケージインストール
 rpm -Uvh rp-pppoe-3.5-1.i386.rpm
 と打ち込むと
 package *** is already installed とエラー表示。
 すでにインストールされているらしい・・・。
 わざわざダウンロードしてくる必要は無かったらしい・・・。

-(2) adsl-setup の実行
 adsl-setup
 を実行すると以下のように表示されるので
 それぞれの質問を入力する。
 
 >>> Enter your PPPoE user name (default bxxxnxnx@sympatico.ca): [接続ユーザ名]
 	接続ユーザ名
 
 >>> Enter the Ethernet interface connected to the ADSL modem
 For Solaris, this is likely to be something like /dev/hme0.
 For Linux, it will be ethn, where 'n' is a number.
 (default eth0): [eth0]
 	eth0 を指定
 
 >>> Enter the demand value (default no): [no]
 	自動切断の時間
 	no - 自動切断しない
 
 >>> Enter the DNS information here: [xx.xx.xx.xx]
 	プライマリ DNS(ネーム) サーバアドレス 
 
 >>> Enter the secondary DNS server address here: [xx.xx.xx.xx]
 	セカンダリ DNS(ネーム) サーバアドレス 
 
 >>> Please enter your PPPoE password: [xxxxxxxx]
 >>> Please re-enter your PPPoE password: [xxxxxxxx]
 	パスワード
 
 >>> normal user to start or stop DSL connection (default yes): [yes]
 	yes - 一般ユーザが使用できる。
 	no - 一般ユーザが使用できない。
 ※Turbo linux では聞いてこなかった、RedHat9 は聞いてきた
 
 >>> Choose a type of firewall (0-2): [1]
 	0 - ファイヤーウォール不要
 	1 - 単独でこのマシンだけを接続する
 	2 - ファイヤーウォールとして設定
 
 >>> Please enter no or yes (default no): [yes]
 	yes - 起動時に接続する
 	no - 起動時に接続しない
 ※Turbo linux では聞いてこなかった、RedHat9 は聞いてきた
 ※yes にすると起動時にエラー表示が出て接続が失敗する
 ※yes にすると起動時にエラー表示が出て接続失敗する
 
 以上で終了

-(3) インターネットの接続
 adsl-start

-(4) インターネットの切断
 adsl-stop
